How to Get Brows Like Zendaya

I am unabashedly obsessed with eyebrows. They are always the first thing I notice when I meet people, and I appreciate someone with a strong Cara Delevingne brow. Therefore, naturally, I am also obsessed with Zendaya and her brows alike. If her eyebrows had a zip code I would live there, but alas they do not. So, the next best thing is to just try to copy her in every way possible.

I’ve always been incredibly picky about the shape and fullness of my brows, so much so, that I cried when I said goodbye to my eyebrow esthetician in LA and moved to New York. Eyebrows make or break a lewk, which Zendaya knows first-hand. Below we’ve broken down how to get the perfect brows, and get ready for your close-up (or just a good insta-selfie):

Let Those Bad Boys Grow

I like full brows, you like full brows, we all like full brows. We are huge advocates of touching your brows as little as possible. The Zendaya brow is full and thick, and you’re not going to achieve that through frequent tweezing.

Keep em’ Clean

Full and thick is one thing, but a unibrow is quite another. There are two ways you can maintain a clean look—having a professional do the deed, or DIY, obv. If you’re seeing a professional, we recommend getting your eyebrows threaded rather than waxed. Waxing can cause breakouts or burns and redness. Bring a photo of Zendaya for inspo, your girl will know what to do.

If you’re going to DIY, follow these tips below:

  1. Shape After the Shower: since heat helps to open the hair follicle, making plucking easier.
  2. Buy Good Tweezers: we recommend these from Tweezerman!
  3. Line Her Up: If you’re trying to figure out exactly where your brow should begin, simply grab your tweezers, and line then up exactly with the inner corner of your eye. Wherever the tip of your tweezer lands on your brow, is where it should begin. Once you’ve located that point on each side, go forth and pluck any growth in between. Warning: Do not over-pluck. I repeat, do not over-pluck.
  4. Line Her Up Round 2: Now that you’ve found the beginning, let’s find the end. Grab your tweezers once more, and line them up from the outer corner of your nose, through to the outer corner of your eye. Remove any hairs that fall beyond this line.
  5. Remove Hairs from Below: But never from the top. Work slowly when plucking the hairs underneath, and only pluck truly stray hairs. Must we repeat, do not over-pluck.
  6. Remember: The best brows are sisters, not twins. No two brows are exactly the same. Striving for perfection will result in over-plucking. The dreaded nightmare of any DIY-brow.
Fill Those Bad Boys In

Filling in brows and defining them to perfection is the final touch to achieving this look. We recommend using a great eyebrow pencil and brush like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. Using the brush, comb your hairs up and then over to the right, arching them into your ideal shape. Then, grab the pencil side and begin by filling in any lighter patchy spots in light, short strokes to mimic hair growth.

No true Zendaya brow is complete without the ultimate highlighter glow. Grab your Haloscope highlighter and run it lightly along your brow bone to really make them pop.
