The Ultimate Self-Care Sunday Routine


Now that Spring is officially here (I think) and we’re able to go outside in outfits that don’t require a sleeping bag coat (Hallelujah!), it’s time to undo the damage from the cold winter air that wreaked havoc upon our skin and hair. Since it’s #SelfCareSunday, what better way to get started than with an at-home spa day? This is also a great way to de-stress and relax if you have finals coming up, had a bad day, or just need a moment to disconnect and treat yoself. Below, we’ve laid out the ultimate spa day to rejuvenate and refresh yourself from your head to your toes. It’s also super quick since Zenzy Gals are busy gals, and we know it doesn’t take all day to spoil yourself.  So let’s begin…

Step 1: Bath:

No at-home spa day is complete without an insta-worthy bath. First, light some tea candles and places them around your bath tub. Just, ya know, be careful. Run warm water, throw in a lush bath bomb, and add in some additional Epsom bath salts for muscle relaxing. Try lavender-scented salts for extra calming capabilities. If you’re looking to get extra Instagram points, grab a bath caddy for your books, candles, tea, and maybe laptop if you’re looking to watch some Netflix while you relax. Needless to say, try not to get your computer wet. You can get an aesthetically-pleasing one here

Step 2: Hair

This is the best part of the body to start with since your hair probably needs a lot of hydration after winter, flat irons, curling irons, hair dryers, and the hundred other products we use on it. A great at-home fix is a combination of coconut oil, olive oil and honey. All you need to do is mix a tablespoon of each into a small bowl and generously coat the ends of your hair, tie it up and let it marinate on your dry ends while you complete the rest of your spa day. I typically do this hair masks on weekends and leave it in for 1-2 hours then thoroughly rinse with shampoo and conditioner.

Step 3: ~Face Mask~

Everyone’s favorite step! If you’re looking for a purchased product from Sephora, we’ve got a list of the best face mask for all skin types right here. However, since this is an at-home spa day, we’ve got an at-home face mask recipe for you as well. For stressed out skin, use a mix of avocado, yogurt, and honey. The ingredients are below:

  • Half an avocado
  • Teaspoon of plain organic yogurt
  • Teaspoon of honey

Mix until they form a smooth paste. Apply the mask to your face and neck and let it sit for 15-20 minutes while you soak in the tub, then wash off with warm water and cleanser. Don’t forget to add a moisturizer for added hydration!

Step 4: Body Scrub

I don’t know about you, but once a bath is complete, I always feel the need to drain the tub and rinse off with a quick shower. This is the perfect time to rinse off your face mask, hair mask, and apply your favorite body scrub! Winter skin needs a good scrub down every so often so you can glow-up for that Springtime lewk. An easy scrub to make at home includes:

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of your favorite essential oil scent (ex. Vanilla, lavender, coconut, etc.)

Throw this all in a blender or food processer until it’s all mixed together. You can save the leftovers in a Tupperware container for the next time you have a spa day! Once the scrub is complete, cup a small amount in your palm, and begin to gently rub it in a circular motion across your body. Once you’ve finished, rinse off once more in the shower.

Final Step:

Look in the mirror and smile at your shiny, healthy, glowed-up hair, skin and bod. That’s #SelfCareSunday done right.
